The town is situated 11 km from Warsaw along the railway line Warsaw - Bialystok. The area of the town covers 8 ha. The town has churches, the Dominican Convent, schools and the Culture Centre.
HISTORY
The first record about Zielonka goes back to 1793 and concerning the battle of Warsaw against Suworow's army. The town's location among the woods and water has caused, that Zielonka has been considered as a summer resort for many years and a number of its inhabitants increased about two times- from 4 thousand to 10 thousand- during summer season. During the lasting in August 1920 battle of Warsaw, when the Polish army defeated the Soviet Army, some fight took place in surroundings of Zielonka. This part of glorious history of Polish army and its success has its own commemorating monuments. There is a chapel, which commemorates these events, heroic and determination of soldiers, who were fighting against Bolshevic invasion in defence of Warsaw, on the edges of the local firing ground-on the Dluga River. With the history of Zielonka is connected indisputably The Technical Military Institute of Armament, which was visited by Józef Pilsudski on frequent occasions. Another organisation, which has been closely related with the past of Zielonka was The Friends of Zielonka Society created in 1932. It caused that Zielonka was separated from the Marki Community in 1946. The German occupation took many lives of local scouts commemorated by a monument placed in the woods on the track from Zielonka to Rembertów and also many lives of civil people executed there, about who keeping the memory an obelisk at "Kruczek”.
CHARACTER OF REGION
Immediately after the war Zielonka started to reorganised its life and in very short period of time there were created many factories and enterprises, such as: Armament Testing Center, the Railway Manufacturing Works, Military Electronic Works, the Mazowian Building Ceramics Works, the Mazowian Employment Co-operative and "Gigant" Ceramic Works. Zielonka after gaining civil rights in 1961 has continued the line of development and has concerned about blossoming of cultural live efficiently, which kind of the people' activity has been supervised by The Centre of Culture. The town is still developed in remarkable way and this fact has got confirmation such as very fast rate of the extension the town infrastructure. There are many small and middle private productions, service and craft enterprises, and besides- the individual, detached houses and blocks of flats are being developed in the midst of trees and gardens in the town. The town's management would like to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants constantly and generally most of them manage their own economic activities. The convenient road and developed infrastructure of town, which has got comfortable connections with the capital there are certain opportunities for potential investors to initiate fruitful cooperation. Also there are two-parish churches, what it's worth visiting, because of interesting style of buildings' architecture: the one existing since 1939- Our Lady of Czestochowa and Saint George's parish. Despite of that, Zielonka still is beautiful and delightful place rich in the recreation area, forests and meadows, which are visited with pleasure not only by inhabitants of closed neighbourhood. But also the opportunities, which are connected with development of town's infrastructure and on the economic areas, are set up a background for a wide cooperation with the potential partners in business and others kinds of activity.
